Apple Picking

This last weekend we decided to head out to the mountains and go apple picking. We went to Riley's Farm in Oak Glen. We were able to pick golden delicious, black arkansas, rome, and winesaps. Although I have never heard of the winesap apples before this trip they were my favorites. They have great flavor and they are firm. There is nothing worse than a mushy apple.

Cherish loved it when the apples were low enough for her to pick. Most of them were so high we needed a picking pole( a long pole with and basket with a hook at the end) to get them.
Even Izzy wanted to pick them.

Almost there. Jose had to help her get most of them. Before we entered the orchard they gave us instructions to make sure we turn them until they come off because if you do it incorrectly an apple will never grow there again. Cherish was very careful to follow those directions and she would reprimand us when we didn't, which by the way is very difficult with the picking pole.


Izzy Loved the apples. I personally would have never even dreamed to give Izzy a whole apple , after all she is only 14 months. Jose snuck her an apple before I could stop him. She loved it. In fact when I tried to take it away she growled at me. I promise I do feed her.

Family Fun Run Times

We decided to join in the fun at the Harbor Heritage 5K. Jose and I ran the 5K and Cherish ran a 1/4 mile kids run. Izzy Cheered us on. Don't worry Izzy, you will be joing us soon enough.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere

To help us get into the fall spirit we went to Tanaka Farms in Irvine. It was great. They had pumpkins everywhere. We started out at the corn maze where Cherish had a great time leading us into the center and back out.They also have a wagon ride that takes you around the farm for a nice enjoyable ride.
Our favorite part was the pumpkin canon. They would shoot a pumpkin out of their canon every 10 minutes or so. They would shoot at a flag about 300 yards away. Cherish would get so excited every time they got close. We never saw they hit it but it was fun to watch them try.
Daddy needed a massage(after all he had just run 10 miles) and Cherish gives the best ones out there.

We had a great time and I would recommend going to anyone who gets a chance.

With all of these pumpkins around all I could think was, pumpkin bread, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bars, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pie... OK I need to stop, my mouth is watering. I love this time of year. HAPPY FALL EVERYONE!!

26.2

To most of us 26.2 is just a number but after this week it means a whole lot more to Jose. He completed his first marathon this week in St. George, UT. In Jose's words it only poured for the first 21 miles and then it only sprinkled after that. It was in the 40s at the begining of the race and there was a headwind the whole way. It was very cold.

Here are the girls waiting for their Daddy. It was a long wait in the rain. We are very glad our friends had coats they let us borrow. Like the silly lady that I am I forgot to bring ours.
I sat there and waited for Jose to come by us and watched every single person pass us by but for some reason I didn't see Jose until he was right in front of us and I didn't get the camera out until he was already past us. You can see Jose in the gray shirt and black shorts.
He was so cold after the run that all he wanted was the blanket. I forgot to bring him dry clothes but at least I didn't forget about the blanket.
Jose, we are so proud of you. I love the medal. It is so pretty. It is polished red rock with a simple monogram and the year. I love the simplicity.

KOBE!?!

This morning Cherish had a soccer game. She loves to play and I love to watch her. It is so cute when she gets running really fast and is going after the ball her tounge comes right out the side of her mouth. She needs her water breaks because she runs and runs out there.After the game they do a tunnel for the girls to run though. The girls love it so much they go though 3-4 times.
So you are wondering why this is titled Kobe. As we were waiting for the game to start this very tall man walked to the other side of the field with his family and at first glance I thought "Hey that guy looks like Kobe Bryant" The more I looked at him the more I thought hey that might really be Kobe. Then I started to do the math and I know he lives in the area and He had a daughter the week before Cherish in the same hospital. Sure enough it was him. I had to laugh when one of the fathers pulled his daughter aside and said "Hey you are playing against Kobe Bryant's daughter go show them how it is done." It was nice to see that he comes out and supports his daughter and that everyone pretty much left him alone. I felt a little quilty taking this picture but I couldn't pass it up either.

Happy Birthday Sweetie

Jose just celebrated his 30th birthday. Happy Birthday to the love of my life. I'm lucky to have you. Thank you for all the good times.

First Day of School

Cherish started Kindergarden this week. I can't believe my little girl has gotten so big. She grew up while I wasn't looking. Cherish was a little nervous about starting Kindergarden and was really sad to have to say goodbye to her preschool teachers and friends. She doesn't like change. A couple weeks ago she had a great talk with Auntie T about all the wonderful things that she would be doing in Kindergarden. From that moment on she couldn't wait for school to start and started to count down the days.
Jose was able to go into work late that morning so he could come with us for the big day.
